In a nutshell: The Forum on End of Life in Ireland is a major piece of consultation with the public on a wide range of end-of-life issues. The aim is to establish a vision of how Ireland can address the challenges of dying, death and bereavement with the aim of facilitating a good death – when it can be anticipated and also consider how to provide supportive systems when death occurs unexpectedly. It was launched in March 2009 and will conclude at the end of 2009 followed by a series of consultations during 2010. A final report is expected by April 30, 2010. A National Coalition will then be established.
