What is the evidence that palliative care teams improve outcomes for cancer patients and their families?

In a nutshell:  The article describes a systematic review of the literature on the impact of specialist palliative care teams on outcomes for patients with advanced cancer who have complex needs.  Evidence showed significantly improved patient outcomes in relation to pain and symptom control, anxiety, and reduced hospital admissions. The results suggest that specialist palliative care should be part of care for cancer patients.
